Make The Damn Video November Reps Challenge
KEEP MAKING THE VIDEOS YOU ENJOY MAKING.
Build a rhythm that keeps you creating without turning something you enjoy into another job.
You’re already making videos. You know what you like talking about and sharing on your channel. But staying consistent can still be difficult when life gets busy, you overthink the next video, or too much time starts slipping between uploads.
November is about keeping that momentum going. Not making as many videos as humanly possible, but continuing to put in the reps doing something you actually enjoy.
MAKE VIDEOS OFTEN ENOUGH THAT YOU DON’T KEEP STARTING AGAIN.
“I want to keep making videos. Sometimes I just need a starting point.”
Even when you enjoy making videos, it’s easy to fall in and out of the habit. You finish one, life gets busy, a week turns into three, and when you come back, it can feel like you have to find your way into making again.
I’ve found that when I keep making videos, it’s much easier to stay in the flow of it. I don’t have to build myself back up to start again every time, because I never really stopped.
That’s the approach we’ll take throughout November: enough structure to give you a starting point, but enough room for you to make videos about whatever matters on your channel. The prompts tell you the kind of video to make, whilst also giving ideas for your channel’s specific topic.
The aim is simply to keep making videos. Not for the sake of filling a schedule, and not because you should be posting like a content machine. Just often enough that making videos still feels like something you’re in the habit of doing instead of starting from scratch each time.
HOW YOU’LL KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING THROUGH NOVEMBER.
JOIN
Start with everyone else.
Register and begin on the 1st with people from around the world. Share what you’re making, and see what others are making too.
CREATE
Go deep on your topic.
Start each week with one prompt and a few days to turn it into a developed long-form video for your channel based on your chosen topic.
REPEAT
Keep the reps going.
Later in the week, get two prompts to make two short-form videos on your chosen topics, giving you more chances to make videos while testing ideas.
HANG OUT
Finish the month together.
Join the live group call on the 26th to look back on what you made, hang out with the community, and ask any questions about making videos.
WHAT YOUR NOVEMBER WILL LOOK LIKE.
NOVEMBER 1ST: We start together. Your first long-form prompt lands on the 1st, and you’ll have three days to make it before moving on.
THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER: We follow the same weekly pattern. Three days for your long-form video, a short-form video prompt on Day 4, a day off, another short-form video prompt on Day 6, then another day off before the next week begins.
THE FINAL WEEK: You’ll make your fourth long-form video as normal, then one short-form video as we wrap the challenge on the 26th.
NOVEMBER 26TH: We meet live. Hang out with the MTDV community, chat, have a laugh, and ask questions live over Zoom.
NEW CHALLENGE: Choose whether to join in December. If you want to keep the momentum going, we start again on the 1st of December with a festive theme. Registration for the Christmas 2026 Challenge opens on November 27th.

Life happens. If you miss a day, catch up when you can or simply carry on. The goal is progress, not a perfect streak.
The days in between also give you the opportunity to catch up.
-
Not at all. Some members share every video. Others keep everything private. Whether you're documenting your family, your business or just yourself, what you choose to share is entirely up to you.
-
Around 1-2 hours is ideal. But if you find you need longer, that’s absolutely fine. Go at your own pace.
-
You’ll need basic editing experience to take part in the challenges. If you can import your footage, trim and arrange clips, add basic audio if needed, and export a finished video in the editing app you already use, you’ll be fine.
You don’t need advanced editing skills, and the challenges aren’t based around any particular editing software.
-
I’d advise learning the basics of filming and editing before jumping into the challenge. The Monthly Challenges aren’t technical filming or editing courses, so I won’t be teaching you how to use your camera or editing software from scratch.
You don’t need advanced skills, though. If you can record a clip, trim and arrange footage, and export a finished video, you’ll have enough to take part.
-
That depends on the theme of the month. Each email prompt gives you a specific direction or idea to work from, but how you interpret it is up to you. Your videos might be personal, reflective, observational, story-led, practical or simply about something you want to document.
-
That’s fine. Some prompts may involve speaking to camera, but others can be approached with voiceover, observational footage, B-roll, text or simply filming what you’re doing.
Some monthly themes will naturally involve more on-camera work than others, but the aim isn’t to force you into one style. It’s to help you become more comfortable making videos in a way that feels natural to you, so never feel like you have to be on camera.
-
No. Everyone starts together on the 1st of each month. Registration opens between the 27th and the last day of the month, so we can all begin together.
-
No. Each monthly challenge is a one-off purchase. Join the months that interest you, or come back whenever you need a hit of momentum.
A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING…
CONSISTENCY DOESN’T MEAN MAKING VIDEOS EVERY DAY.
Make a few videos each week while leaving room for everything else in your life.
Everyone starts together on the 1st of November.
WHY I CREATED MAKE THE DAMN VIDEO.
For the last decade, I've been figuring out how to make filming fit around real life, not perfect days. Building a business, raising two young kids, and trying to capture moments without feeling like I had to turn every outing into a film production.
Over time, I realised the biggest obstacle was my over-the-top camera setup and my mindset. I was the one getting in my own way. I would overthink. I’d want everything to be perfect, and I was obsessed with making every video “cinematic”, which made the process (and whatever I was actually doing) less enjoyable.
So I started simplifying the way I filmed and what I carried with me. I focused on documenting and sharing thoughts and experiences, instead of producing. This allowed me to film in a way that naturally fit around my busy life instead of competing with it. That's exactly what Make The Damn Video is all about. Getting you to make the damn videos in the first place, without worrying about trying to be perfect or overthinking your way out of it.
See you on the 1st of October.
